Description
This is one of the later boats produced that has the carbon fiber mast (hence the 260) but is much like the original Hinterhoeller built Nonsuch 26. The boat boasts quality construction, an abundance of comfort and beautiful interior detailing. In addition, with the keel-stepped, unstayed mast, wishbone boom and single sail, this cat-rigged boat is easily sailed by one but can accommodate 4 in two cabins with 6’2” headroom. performance and accommodations. Calypso does sail to weather quite nicely with her efficient underbody, keel, and spade rudder. The carbon mast is a bonus over the original spun aluminum mast in that weight aloft is significantly reduced, which enhances performance, eliminates pitch-poling and you can carry the sail plan into higher wind ranges before the need to reef. The wishbone boom functions like a boom with a loose-footed sail and moves fore and aft with a hoker line which acts as an outhaul to increase or decrease draft in various wind conditions. The beam is carried well aft, and the boat is so easy to work on with large spaces below decks that are accessible. Her interior sleeps 4 in a double forward 6’6” berth and two single settees. A table folds down in the main salon for comfortable seating while dining. The head, with hot & cold water, shower and privacy door is on the starboard side aft of the settee and across lies the U-shaped galley. This is one of the cleanest well maintained Nonsuch 260 on the market with many upgrades!

Al has been on the water since the age of 5 growing up around Newport R.I. and sailing in the Southern New England coast. Some of his passions are boat building, along with sailboat racing. As a delivery Captain, holding a 100ton Coast Guard license and sailing endorsement, Al has had the opportunity to operate a variety of power and sailing watercraft that allowed him to gain an excellent understanding of the working systems on a vessel. He has motored and sailed boats ranging from 8 feet to 60 feet from Maine to the southern Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. With his lifetime involvement with boats, he is ready to assist you in the purchasing or selling of your vessel in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
